Our tour guides and receptionists use this exact same page to check the weather forecast. How should you read it?

• On the left-hand side you can find the column “clouds”, divided in low/mid/high clouds.
• 100 means full cloud cover, 0 means no cloud cover. The lower the number in all of these columns, the better the visibility of the night sky.
• The website also gives some extra explanation about the column on the bottom of the page.

We are in an alpine environment where the weather can change very quickly, so make sure you check the forecast as close to the tour as you can.

Tekapo Star Gazing (TSG) Tours will operate regardless of weather conditions. In the event of inclement weather or unclear skies, we will provide a fascinating indoor virtual reality experience. This unique customised tour takes you on a journey through Lake Tekapo’s night skies with custom-drawn artwork that brings the constellations to life! The remainder of the tour with exclusive use of our 38℃ hot pool will proceed as normal.

We do understand that an outdoor star gazing experience is the ideal experience and therefore we offer our tickets following a 3-tier system with cancellation options. 

• Fully Non-Refundable – This option is our most cost effective way of experiencing our tour. Tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable therefore no date changes or cancellations are permitted.
• Flexi – This option gives you some flexibility with the ability to cancel or reschedule 3 hours prior to the start of your tour. Tickets are fully refundable or transferable to another date subject to availability.
• Full Flexi – This option gives you absolute flexibility with the ability to cancel right up to check-in time of your tour. Plus you receive a complimentary pool pass to use at daytime, which is valid for 12 months.
