• May 2: Flower Moon
May’s Full Moon is known as the Flower Moon after all the flowers that bloom around this time/spring time in the Northern Hemisphere.
• Sometime this month: Psyche makes a gravity assist maneuver at Mars
Psyche, the NASA spacecraft, will fly within 4,400 kilometres (2,700 miles) of Mars. After that, Psyche was launched in 2023 and will be on course to reach the asteroid Psyche in 2029. What’s crazy is that Psyche will be the first mission ever to a metal-rich asteroid.
• May 31: Micro Blue Moon
Across all time zones, this is the second Full Moon in the month of May, making it a monthly Blue Moon. It is also a Micromoon.
